Loughborough Transport to a Future that Works

The TUC march a Future that Works (20 October) is to have transport from Loughborough though places are limited. Dave Postle has organised a minibus which may be upgraded to a coach if enough people are interested.

The Purpose of the March is to highlight alternatives to the coalition’s policy of austerity. The TUC argues that austerity has led to a vicious circle of decline.

“Instead of just letting the banks go back to business and bonuses as usual, we need policies that promote new and old industries. This new approach would create jobs, especially for young people.

“It would encourage companies to raise average pay, penalise big bonuses and invest in training and new industries. It would crack down on tax evasion by big companies and the super-rich. It would tackle the growing inequality between the super-rich and everyone else. Rather than deep, rapid spending cuts, we need to reverse our decline and build an economy that works for ordinary families.”

People who want to travel with the Loughborough transport must contact the coach organiser by Friday 5th since the decision to upsize to a coach will have to be made very soon. Costs are £18 waged £12 unwaged. Email: daveapostles@googlemail.com. More details of the coach and other Leicestershire transport can be found at the False Economy website here.

The march will also be discussed at this week’s Friday Room on Unions and the Community and participants may register for the coach after the meeting.

One Response to Loughborough Transport to a Future that Works

  1. On a personal note, the march should not be just against the coalition. In case you missed it Labour is planning welfare cuts (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/oct/02/labour-cuts-welfare-liam-byrne)
