The need for unity is paramount! As attacks on the living and working conditions of ordinary people intensify, and the very fabric of our welfare state is being destroyed.
The need for cooperation amongst those of us who seek to bring change to our society is vital, to enable us to overcome the obstacles of the first-past-the-post electoral system. The task is urgent and the time short. The welfare state and health service is being dismantled by the coalition government, bringing great suffering to the most vulnerable in society and eroding the living conditions of millions of ordinary people.
The Labour Party is not presenting a strong opposition to austerity and instead appears to have wholeheartedly adopted neo-liberal policy, advocating its own brand of austerity and privatisation.
The post-war generation, transformed the lives of ordinary people by bringing improved health, housing, education and Welfare to the people of Britain. We need to defend these achievements and continue the tradition of protecting the most vulnerable in society. Support Ken Loach’s appeal (sign on line at leftunity.org).
Left Unity supports taking essential services back into State control, ensuring that groups of people are not discriminated against ,sustainability, caring for the environment; finding non-violent ways to sort out conflicts, and presenting an economic alternative to austerity for the majority, and changing the economic system to benefit everyone – (not just those who have money and power!)
To discuss the formation of a new political party of the Left come to the meeting!
